Teaching The Drama Curriculum

This workshops series for Drama and English Educators will use dramaturgical strategies to explore units of the Queensland School Drama Syllabus. Each workshop participant will receive a free Playlab publication which will be used to examine scenes to understand the conventions of the form, style and structure of the genre in focus, and how the elements of drama are used in this genre to create meaning, and ways to help students engage with and understand this form.


There are four workshops, which include:
 

Workshop 1 Magic Realism - February 12 (Tuesday) 5.30 to 8.30

This workshop focuses on Unit 2: 'Reflect'. The supplied text is Spontaneous Human Combustion by Daniel Evans.


Workshop 2 Gothic Theatre - February 26 (Tuesday) 5.30 to 8.30

This workshop focuses on Unit 2: 'Reflect'. The supplied text is Constance Drinkwater and the Final Days of Somerset by Stephen Carleton.


Workshop 3 Theatre of the Absurd - May 14 (Tuesday) 5.30 to 8.30

This workshop focuses on Unit 3: Challenge. The supplied text is Bustown by Lachlan Philpott.

 
Workshop 4 Contemporary adaptation - July 23 (Tuesday) 5.30 to 8.30

This workshop focuses on Unit 4: Transform. The supplied text is Medea by Kate Mulvany and Anne-Louise Sarks after Euripides

All workshops will be held in Playlab’s Rehearsal Room at 30 Herschel St, Brisbane city.

Individual workshops - $69 (Including free publication)

Notes –
